Paid Dress down Day this Friday
This Friday, students and teachers may dress down (wear comfortable clothes instead of their uniforms) for a donation of at least 2,000 riel. The proceeds will go to help offset the costs of cancer treatments for our former Khmer teacher Sophal Mek. We appreciate your donations and support.
Pchum Ben (Sept 21-30) is a No Homework Holiday
This means…
- No long-term projects or major tests can be due the week following the break.
- Regular homework cannot be assigned unless there is an expectation that an assignment is not due until the second class period following the holiday.
Exceptions
- AP Classes
- Online Classes – Online classes will still have assignments/classwork due during the holiday break.
Enjoy the break! We will see students back in class on Tuesday, October 1.
School Calendar Change
You may have heard that the number of public holidays for 2020 in Cambodia has been reduced. We will make just one change to our school’s calendar for this year. 20th May will change so that we are in school that day – no holiday. The last week of school in May will look like this:
- 25, 26, 27 May will be normal school days.
- 28 May will be the last day of school for students – half day and no lunch.
- 29 May will be the last day for teachers.

PSAT Testing, Wednesday, Oct. 16
We will offer PSAT testing to Grade 10 & 11 students on Wednesday, October 16, 2019. We require our Grade 10 students to take the test, and we do not charge them for it. The PSAT is optional for Grade 11 students, and we charge Grade 11 students $16 to cover the cost of the test.
Why should students take the PSAT?
- To help prepare for the SAT. Students can become familiar with the kinds of questions and the exact directions they will see on the SAT.
- PSAT results can give you a general idea of how well students will do on the SAT and offers feedback about students’ strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college study. Students can then focus their preparation on those areas that could most benefit from additional study or practice.
- United States citizens in Grade 11 who perform well on the test may be eligible for National Merit Scholarships to college.
We have already ordered and received our PSAT tests, but we have a couple of extra copies. If you have a Grade 11 student that has not signed up but would like to take the test, please contact Mrs. Young. jyoung@asianhope.org
Note from School Nurse
Dengue Fever
The Cambodian Minister of Health expects a Dengue Outbreak this year. The Country’s Health officers are continuing with campaigns to educate and inform people about preventative measures to curb the spread of dengue fever. Be encouraged that at Logos we abide by preventative measures to curb the spread of the Dengue mosquito on campus. I also would like to share some educational resources with you in hopes that you can implement them at home and share with your neighbors and children. Together we can help stop the spread of the Dengue mosquito.
